Michele’s Great Stuff Discovery: A Bargain Hunter’s Delight
Michele Sands, a self-proclaimed bargain enthusiast, found her shopping haven at Great Stuff Savvy Resale & Home. “I love bargains. I don’t like to shop. I look at the price tag first, and I get frustrated.” But Great Stuff offered a unique experience. “One of the fun things about going in there is I know the volunteers. Everybody is there because they want to help out. They have a fondness for fashion. It’s a win-win.”
Her initial visits were exploratory. “I would go there just to see what I could find, but I also learned it was a great place to go if I needed something for a special occasion.” A gala presented a challenge. “I don’t have anything to wear. I’m going to Great Stuff,” she decided. The result? “I bought this outfit I wouldn’t have bought anywhere else.”
The quality of donations impressed her. “People donate their Chicos and Talbots. You can buy really good things that often have their original tags.” When a wedding invitation arrived, Great Stuff’s personalized service shone. “I got a wedding invitation and the very next day I went to Great Stuff. I told them what I was looking for, and someone went in the back and brought out 5 dresses.”
Michele’s overall impression was clear: “I just find it kind of a fun experience to go in there.” She also values the store’s connection to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. “I also donate to DBCC because I just know so many people who have had breast cancer.”
She invited friends to a gathering in February and asked them to share an observance of a special day or week that occurs during the month. Michele learned that February 10 is National Secondhand Wardrobe Week, and she showcased some Great Stuff finds, including a favorite sequined top, about which she admitted, “I wouldn’t ordinarily buy it.”
Her final sentiment was a simple, powerful endorsement: “I always tell people about Great Stuff.”
